VBS Child
A poem
Hi. Vacation Bible School was this week, and I’d say it went pretty well. It can be a long week for volunteers, so here’s a little poem about that.*
VBS Child
Uncertain you walked through the door today But soon you seemed to own the premises. Then you revealed that you had come to play; Excitement can’t sustain a week of this. Our songs and snacks and games don’t bring you joy? Your fuss, your wiggling body is a sign? It’s craft—or craftiness—that you employ? I feel your weariness or is it mine? Yet I will carry on until that day; Your worth is greater still than heaven’s gold. Not knowing destiny but I can say That in your face the future I behold. His praise from little ones will bless the ear; The Lord’s goodwill may bring us back next year.
*Probably the first poem I’ve ever written, obviously. No, I didn’t use AI to help with the poem, again, obviously.
